Is Mayor Maestas training to be Sen. Biden’s VP Chief of Staff?
Española Mayor Joseph Maestas is widely recognized as having the best pectoral muscles in New Mexico politics. According to the Politico, NY Times and Newsweek, that’s a quality Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee Joe Biden admires in an individual:
[Biden, at the NFL Hall of Fame] then approached the print pooler and said, “you look liked you played some, man.”
As the print pooler was saying ‘no I didn’t,” the candidate moved closer, tapped his upper chest and said “you need to work on your pecs.”
Maestas lost to Jerome Block Jr in the primary race for New Mexico’s 3rd District Public Regulation Commission Race. Our advice to Maestas: double-down on those bench presses.
Maestas did not comment for this story, mostly because we didn’t call him about it–I’m just rumor-mongering without any real scuttlebutt. However, in recent weeks, Española has been getting a lot of attention from the Obama camp, with visits from the ticket itself and Hillary Clinton.
